In Norse mythology, Thor is the god of thunder. He is depicted as a powerful man with eyes of lightening. Fabled protector of gods and humans, he carried a hammer called Mjollnir and a belt said to increase his strength. Here he readies his hammer for action. Painted in oil on gesso board.
